In Brussels, as in most major European cities, free tours operate on a system of voluntary tips, which are in fact the guide’s main source of income.
For this reason, these tours are not completely free: at the end of the walk, it is customary to leave a tip based on the quality of the service.
As a reference, most participants typically leave between €12 and €20 per person, with €20 being the most common amount when the tour has been enjoyable.

We will begin by exploring popular Brussels, located in the Lower Town. During this walk, we will visit some of the most authentic places in the historic center and immerse ourselves in the true spirit of the city.

- traffic conditions or high visitor numbers
- the group’s walking pace
In particular, Petit Sablon and Grand Sablon are often excluded because they are farther from the other sites and the available time does not always allow for a visit. Some groups may reach them if the pace is fast, but generally, to ensure the best experience, these squares are not included in the tour.
The tour ends very close to this area. If you wish to visit these squares on your own, the guide will be happy to explain how to get there easily.
Program:
We will meet at the Grand-Place, where we will join our guide to begin this journey through the historic heart of Brussels.
We will start by discovering the majestic Grand-Place, considered one of the most beautiful squares in Europe, and we will see the Everard t’Serclaes monument, a symbol of Brussels’ history and identity.
We will then continue towards the famous Manneken Pis and the Church of Our Lady of Good Help, located in the old district connected to the Way of St. James (Camino de Santiago).
We will walk along Anspach Boulevard, where we will discuss the city’s urban transformation and the former Senne River, a key element for understanding the evolution of Brussels.
Next, we will arrive at Saint-Géry Island, the birthplace of the city, and visit the Saint-Géry market hall, a remarkable witness of medieval Brussels. There, we will also see the Zinneke Pis, a sculpture that humorously reflects the city’s multicultural character.
The tour will continue to Sainte-Catherine Square, the old port of Brussels, before heading towards the Upper Town via the Royal Galleries of Saint-Hubert and the historic café La Mort Subite. In this area, you will also find the famous Delirium Tremens bar and, nearby, Jeanneke Pis, known as the “little peeing girl.” During the visit, we will discover the three most curious icons of Brussels—the three “pee statues”—and talk about Belgium’s beer tradition and its historic bars.
In the Upper Town, we will visit the interior of the Cathedral of St. Michael and St. Gudula, where we will admire its stained‑glass windows, the Chapel of the Blessed Sacrament, the patronage of the family of Charles I of Spain and V of the Holy Roman Empire, and its impressive Baroque pulpit.
We will then continue towards the Royal Park, the Royal Palace, and the Royal Square, the heart of Brussels’ political and historical power.
We will end the tour around the Coudenberg Palace, the Museum of Musical Instruments (an Art Nouveau landmark), the Palace of Charles of Lorraine, the Magritte Museum, and the Palace of Fine Arts, one of the city’s main cultural centers, where we will also enjoy one of the most beautiful panoramic views of Brussels.

In our case, to ensure fair and responsible tourism, we set a minimum contribution of €20 per adult. This amount allows the guide to be properly compensated for their work and time.
How is the guide compensated?
